Treatments:

Pubic lice are small but they can be seen with a naked eye. Although, the eggs are really small and sometimes could be hard to find and a magnifying lens may be necessary to find them.

Typically, pubic lice can be treated at home. But if someone in the house has them, it's important to take precautions so that they don't spread. The most common treatment is a lice-killing lotions that are available at a local drug store or pharmacy. A prescription wash containing permethrin, such as Elimite or Kwell will be very effectiveBut there are more methods such as lindane shampoo which is not as good as others because it can be toxic to the nervous system.

After using any of the available medications the infected person should wash all the underwear, bedding, towels and clothing that may be in contact with the infected area with hot water (at least 130ºF). Then, the sexual partners should be informed that they could be at risk for infestation and should be treated. The treatment should be repeated in 9-10 days in case live lice are still found. After all of this the person may like to be evaluated for other STD´s, just to make sure everything is safe.
